We are the coming together of our unique experiences, triggers (both good and bad) and stuck points. In the midst of what seems like an endless pandemic rendering isolation a necessity for the greater good, it has become more important than ever to think about our own internal dialogue. Are we self deprecating?

This speech was given by myself as a panelist for Harvard Business School Online in celebration of International Women’s Day. It was an honour and privilege to have this opportunity to listen to other inspiring leaders from around the globe and to have the chance to share a snapshot of my own story and how events transpired that led to the creation of Head Start.

Dedication, consistency, effort over time. It seems simple enough, but in all aspects of life whether personal or professional, the daily actions I have found to be a very difficult and multi-faceted journey to move forward, to learn, grown and better ourselves for ourself and those who surround us.

The precision nutrition certificate, amongst other many valuable resources, provided a worksheet for use on client’s titled Want, Willing, Won’t.

How we play, or rather what we do in our personal lives either increases or decreases our energy levels, self-confidence & overall motivation and has a corresponding impact on our professional lives.

Zoom? Watch your lighting. No one wants to talk to someone in a questionably dark room and do not be that guy who forgot he forgot to wear pants.

Consider building a safe space with a close group of colleagues or like-minded business professionals.

Confidence is born out of embracing our fear and getting out of that comfort zone. And if our risk turns into failure then we have been given the opportunity to shift out perspective from Why did this happen to me? to truly embrace what went wrong. How? By asking ourselves What can I learn from this?  

At 10, I wanted to become a motivational speaker. My father always said if you want to speak…make sure you have something to say. I wrote a page titled “How to become Successful”.

How Marie Kondo’s clutter cleaning phenomenon impacted our organizational culture by cementing itself into our internal policies through our use of her verbiage “does this spark joy”?

It would be impossible to ignore the irrevocable changes that have and are occurring in the financial world as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic. As I write this post a part of me wonders if by the time it is finished, I will have to re-write it in order to account for new changes across the globe. Suffice it to say, COVID-19 has presented us with the challenge, or if you are fortunate enough to be in a position to reframe this perspective, an opportunity to seek out new connections, dig deeper within ourselves and push to find a way through……
